TOEIC Grammar Lesson - Agree On, Agree To, Agree With
Feb 15, 2024
What prepositions are used with the verb "agree"?
There are a variety of English grammar patterns that are tested on the TOEIC® exam. In Part V and Part VI, you may be asked to identify which prepositions go with certain verbs. Let's look at the prepositions that collocate with "agree."
You can AGREE WITH someone:
- I agree with Kim. Let’s start the meeting at 9:00.
- Can you agree with me on this?
You can also AGREE WITH someone's idea, opinion, and so on:
- I agree with Kim’s opinion to start the meeting at 9:00.
- Can you agree with my idea to do this?
Two or more people can AGREE ON something:
- We agreed on starting the meeting at 9:00.
- Thankfully, everyone agreed on the proposal.
And finally, you can AGREE TO do something:
- I agree to start the meeting at 9:00.
- The client agreed to sign the contract.
👉 Keep in mind the best way to remember this grammar or any grammar or vocabulary in English is to take the word or phrase, write it in a sentence that's true for you or true in your world, and then memorize your sentences.
👉 You can even take your sentences and write them in the comments below. I would love to see your examples.
